S.T.E.A.M.E.R.S is a 501 C 3 non-profit community service organization that specializes in the strategic development and tactical execution of community programs that engage young people in a manner that creates a positive image, mutual respect, and a safe environment.
S.T.E.A.M.E.R.S provides science, technology, engineering, art, math, entrepreneurship, robotics, social skills, wellness training along with financial fitness and budget management workshops geared to promote financial literacy to our young people.
S.T.E.A.M.E.R.S collaborates with local community groups, school systems, local government, and corporations to provide education and recreational programs, career counseling, employment training, placement and internships for young people.
Introduction to Robotics and Coding provides a practical learning path into technology, while providing an environment that will educate participants regarding the potential of science technology, engineering, art and mathematics (STEAM) careers.
Leadership training prepares youth and young adults to manage time, work in a team setting, set goals, start conversations, facilitate meetings, and make effective presentations: All of which are positive life skills that they carry into adulthood.
The program’s main educational focus is teaching teens and young adults how to write a business plan by determining a focus, analyzing information from various sources, making evaluations on data sets and comparing and contrasting findings from those sources.
Teach students to recognize the importance of physical activity for overall wellness. Build good character traits through sportsmanship and physical activity. Teach social awareness and relationship skills. Eat to Live and Not Living to Eat. Identify personal and community resources which relate to physical & mental health fitness. Learning new skills, connecting with other people and having good relationships are an important part of your mental wellbeing.
It is said that social skills improve your self-confidence. Research shows that people who have good social skills are more likely to engage in activities with others, communicate their needs and wants clearly and effectively, have better and potentially more relationships and can understand and express emotions at a far better rate than those that lack social skills. Our program focuses on teaching youth and young adults social and practical skills that will prepare them for everyday interactions with confidence.
Participants will learn the 10 basic principles of financial management and the benefits of good financial management. From opening a bank account and analyzing your income to understanding cash flow and assets, this course will give participants a good financial understanding of money management.
Participants will learn and understand that bullying is not an option by attending and completing conflict resolution workshops.
Teens and local law enforcement will have a greater understanding of each others challenges when encountering one another in the community.
Trained instructors will pose realistic scenarios that frequently occur in the every day lives of young people and will be encouraged to consider their options and the respective consequences, ultimately broadening their perspectives and fostering personal responsibility
The mentoring programs focus is on elementary, middle and high school aged students. Research shows that youth who have at least one consistent, caring adult in their lives is more likely to live a positive productive life and are better prepared to build a good relationship with their families than those without that positive influence. Our program provides young people with consistent access to caring professionals and trained adult mentors with a focus on: College Readiness, Career Exposure, Community Awareness, and Health & Wellness.
The tutoring and homework program is an after school educational enrichment program. The program is designed to demonstrate that the perceived culture of poor student achievement in low-income and under-served communities can be reversed. Our personalized support is tailored to your child’s specific needs from math, reading and writing to homework and study skills.
Exposure is a key component to our program. We believe "If you can see IT, you can be IT", which drives us to make sure we expose young people to a diverse set of career professionals, college and corporate campuses, and Arts and Science fairs and expos.
Our program provides young people with consistent access to caring professionals and trained adult mentors with a focus on college readiness, career exposure, community awareness and health & wellness.
The program's main educational focus in on entrepreneurship and teaching young people how to write and develop a business plan.
